West is on lead against South's contract of seven diamonds.

In December 2016, shortly after this section first appeared, Leigh Matheson submitted a construction that could perhaps be considered to better my record claimed in Curio 2.  The two-suit squeeze still occurs at trick two but is preceded by a backwash squeeze at trick one, on which trick the leader is in fact endplayed!

If you think you can beat or interestingly equal this record, click here to submit your construction.

Leigh also refers to a deal given in Adventures in Card Play by Géza Ottlik and Hugh Kelsey (1979), on page 85:

♠ AKQJ108

♣ none

♠ none

♣ AQJ1086

♠ 976432

 6

♣ 975432

West leads the 10 against South's contract of six spades
(and East must clearly return the ♠5 at trick two)

I respectfully point out that my deal appeared seven years earlier than Ottlik's, though of course I can't prove that I was the first to note such squeezes.
